SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) — A nonprofit treatment facility based in Portsmouth will test out new technology to help patients in drug recovery.

The Counseling Center received a $24,000 donation to fight substance abuse in southern Ohio.

Fluor-BWXT donated the money to sponsor a pilot program that uses artificial intelligence and cellphone technology to help people who are struggling with drug addiction. The program, called CASANO Case Management Technology, will use an app and “chatbot” system to keep in contact with clients.
